Vegan Chocolate Cake Recipes
1. Classic Vegan Chocolate Cake
Ingredients:
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 cup almond milk (or any plant-based milk)
1/3 cup vegetable oil (or melted coconut oil)
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add almond milk, oil, vinegar, and vanilla to the dry ingredients. Mix until smooth.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let the cake cool before frosting.
Optional Frosting: Mix 1 ½ cups powdered sugar, ¼ cup cocoa powder, 2 tbsp plant milk, and 1 tsp vanilla. Spread on the cooled cake.
2. Vegan Chocolate Fudge Cake
Ingredients:
1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
¾ cup granulated sugar
½ cup brown sugar
¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 cup coconut milk
½ cup vegetable oil
2 tsp vanilla extract
½ cup hot water
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two 8-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugars, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add coconut milk, oil, and vanilla. Mix until combined.
Gradually add hot water, stirring until smooth.
Divide batter evenly between the pans and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let cakes cool completely before assembling with frosting.
Frosting Option: Blend 1 ½ cups vegan chocolate chips, ½ cup coconut cream, and 1 tsp vanilla. Chill and spread.
